I tell you folks out there.
You need to do your due diligence, because I was dead-set against this from the beginning and now the rewards are unbelievable.
We were looking for homes that we could pay for in cash and houses were scarce and we found several, but then we started thinking about the reverse mortgage and what we could get.
And so with Sally’s dream of having this RV, so I said, “Okay, let’s think bigger.”
SALLY
So at first when we were talking about a reverse mortgage, Ayric and I weren’t on the same page.
AYRIC
Big time (laughs).
SALLY
Well I think it was a process we had to go through. We had to have discussions about it. About the features of it, because we needed to understand the basics. And so going to Fairway made it so much easier, because we started getting a better education on reverse mortgages.
It would help us to take more equity out of the house for things that we wanted to get. I guess the RV was one of them.
And timing it right and making it work with whatever was going on in the market also, the components of it and the potential in it—wow!
AYRIC
I’ve got to say one thing about reverse mortgages, after I’ve been educated on the process and learned a whole lot about them, is that when I share my story with folks out there they just shake their head, because they were where I was. And they say, “You did what? You gave your house away to the bank?” I hear that all the time and so, it’s a process of education. People just don’t know.
